MASON HEALTH WELCOMES COMMUNITY TO HOODSPORT OPEN HOUSE – 55TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION & HISTORIC ART VIEWING

Release Date: Aug 10, 2023

SHELTON, WA – In conjunction with Mason Health’s 55th anniversary celebration this year, Mason Clinic-Hoodsport will host a celebration and open house at Fjord Oyster Bank in Hoodsport, on Wednesday, Sept. 6, from 3 to 5 p.m. This meet-and-greet and casual reception will feature hors d’oeuvres from local chef Xinh Dwelley, guided tours of Hoodsport clinic and a chance to meet and mingle with Hoodsport clinic providers — including Daniel Burris, MD, and new provider Catherine Shutty, ARNP.

Providers and Mason Clinic staff will answer questions about Mason Health’s free Medicare Wellness program for patients 65 and older, and representatives from the Mason General Hospital Foundation Arts Commission will also take the opportunity to showcase the new historic art pieces at Hoodsport clinic, restored by Cooper Studios with grant funding from the Mason County Historic Preservation Commission.

Shutty will begin to see patients part-time at Mason Clinic-Hoodsport, starting the week of Aug. 14. She graduated from Washington State University with a Doctorate in Nursing Practice in 2023 and is passionate about improving health within rural communities. Her special interests include primary care, mental health, and adolescent health.

Dr. Burris has been practicing in Hoodsport since 2018. He graduated from the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency program in Casper, Wyoming, in 2018. His training in residency covered full-spectrum medicine, with a particular focus on the skills and knowledge needed to care for a rural community. In 2020, Burris earned board certification in obesity medicine from the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

Launched at the start of 2022, Mason Health’s Medicare Wellness Program focuses on keeping people 65 and older healthy, with proactive, preventive measures. Our Annual Wellness Team, including providers, registered nurses and pharmacists, work with patients who are 65 and older and signed up for Medicare Part B coverage to ensure they are taking advantage of all that Medicare Part B has to offer.
