The U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is warning providers and patients of identified phishing scams for medical records. This may include scammers faxing fraudulent medical records requests to get providers to send patient records in response or scammers pretending to be Mason Health stating that a patient's Medicare will be canceled, if they do not provide the requested information. Mason Health does not call to ask information about Medicare enrollment or to cancel benefits. Please be aware of scamming tactics such as a message containing urgency, pressure, a request for sensitive information or the use of a generic email.
