Background

Mat Kummerfeldt’s medical training began as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, serving mostly with the Marine Corps while also training as an Emergency Medical Technician.

After active duty, Kummerfeldt trained as a Physician Assistant at the University of Washington’s MEDEX Northwest program.

Kummerfeldt has worked as a hospitalist providing inpatient care, in the Emergency Department and Urgent Care, and for the 10 years prior to coming to Mason Clinic in Primary Care, providing outpatient care to all ages. He joined Mason Health in August 2023.

He believes that the role of the Primary Care provider is to educate patients about maintaining good health, provide timely access to healthcare, identify illness early and intervene quickly and appropriately to provide the best outcome possible.

He is an outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, fishing, sailing and target shooting. He and his wife prioritize their family and are dedicated to raising their children as productive members of this society.
