MASON HEALTH NAMES SETH NACHT AS MARCH 2023 EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Release Date: Apr 04, 2023

SHELTON, WA – As Mason Health’s Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Administrative Supervisor, Seth Nacht works hard at keeping his team members on task and making sure they have everything they need to be successful at delivering exceptional patient care. He is known in his department for going above and beyond and jumping in when the workload picks up pace, helping new employees to feel like they are part of a community. For these reasons, Nacht’s peers have nominated and selected him as the March 2023 Employee of the Month.

Nacht grew up in Shelton and has worked at Mason Health since December 2021, starting out in Registration as a scheduler for podiatry patients. However, his first experiences with the District came at an earlier age. His mother, Heather Nacht, has worked in Referrals for 16 years.

“I actually grew up in Shelton Family Medicine,” said Nacht, referring to Mason Health’s former primary care clinic, formerly located at what is now the Cedar Building. “I have always had an interest in health care.”

After graduating Shelton High School in 2017, Nacht considered becoming an X-Ray technician, but learned that he enjoyed the clerical and administrative side, rather than the technical side, of health care. He worked at Capital Medical Center in Olympia for more than two years in registration and as a team leader, ensuring that people stayed on track in a “fast-paced, sink-or-swim” environment, he said.

Since his mother worked in Referrals and he knew he wanted to be here, Nacht “constantly” kept his eyes open for new positions at Mason Health, he said. He applied for a job in Registration and worked for about six months in scheduling, which he enjoyed.

When Senior Director of Performance Excellence Nicole Eddins, who at the time oversaw the DI department, began looking for someone who could supervise the DI schedulers, she asked Mason Clinic Patient Access Supervisor Breanna Turner if any clinic schedulers came to mind. Knowing Nacht’s interest in radiology, Turner immediately went to Nacht.

“I always enjoy learning something new and working my way up,” Nacht said. “I’m pretty comfortable and love the position I have now. Someday, I might look further into hospital administration. Working as a director or in the senior leadership team would be something I would love to be a part of.”

Nacht’s typical day includes reviewing timecards and being the point person for the department and the schedulers when DI Manager Shane Faford is not available. He jumps in to help schedule DI patients when schedulers fall behind. He attributes his success to his welcoming attitude.

“I don’t try to go into a department and find the negative,” he said. “It’s been important to learn the workflow and the personalities before finding ways to improve the department’s flow or finding things that need to be changed.”

Nacht also credits his success to his parents.

“My mom has been so supportive in my role and been a great resource for questions,” he said. “We have lunch every day. My dad has an amazing work ethic that really taught me a lot and how to help a team by being a team player.”

Nacht enjoys visiting with his friends in Eastern Washington and spending time out on Lost Lake, where he lives.
